Access

We never touch your school account.

There is no app sign-in, no permissions given by the user.

We cannot read your mail, open your files, or act as you. You never give us real access to your account.

Student verification

No sensitive information.

Some communities keep parts of a server for verified students. We never ask for your name, a photo of your ID, or your password. You send one verification email from your school mailbox instead.

1. Press the button in your community’s verification channel.
2. It hands you a one-time address.

   Something like verify+123456@feathersoftware.org.

3. Send it an empty email from your school account.

   The message itself is never read.

4. We receive the confirmation, proving the account is yours.

   The server receives an authorization signal. That is the whole process.

The six digits tie your message to the account you are verifying. They work once, and they expire after 30 minutes.

Data

What we store, in full.

Not a summary. This is everything.

• The body of your message is never read and never stored.

  We read the subject line only when the code is missing from the address.

• Nobody can fake the sender.

  Your school’s own mail servers sign the message. We check that signature so nobody can pretend to be you.

• One mailbox verifies one account.

  We sell nothing and share nothing. Contact us and your record is permanently deleted.

We’re constantly working on easier methods of student verification. While we may have alternates available when you contact, we make no guarantees of security or stability when using them.
